Learning to Live Before You Die
I'm guilty of doing this thing I don't want to do. Like all bad habits, it's hard to break. I catch myself in it, red-handed and guilty before I even realize I'm doing it. Again. And each time I'm surprised, always surprised because I think I've quit doing it. That last time was supposed to be the last time, only it wasn't. It occurs to me to put my ever-present challenge in

It’s Not Good To Think You’re Right When You’re Wrong
Beloved Hubby got a surprise in the mail a while back. Neither of us remembered intentionally running a red light on our last togetherness trip to Houston but there it was, a clear picture of our car going under a traffic light while it was red. “Smile, you’re on Candid Camera” and here’s a little fine to remember us by. Thanks, Texas. Photographic evidence

Boudreaux Has Trouble with a Tourist
It's been ages since we checked in with Boudreaux, and of course, that’s won’t do. So, yesterday I called down to the Big Easy and asked our favorite Cajun what kind of mischief he’d been stirring up lately. Boudreaux said he’d been keeping his nose out of trouble but I told him that was hard to believe. I guess that jogged his memory, as he
George Washington
He was born into a prosperous Virginia farming family. During the course of his life he was, by turns, a surveyor, a planter, and a soldier. A lack of information about his childhood fueled many of the stories that were later told by ambitious and over-reaching biographers. Included in those tales that were subsequently questioned is the famous story of an honest boy and an
Praying and Snoring, Not Meant to Go Hand in Hand
Yes, I am strange. It's a life-long condition. With that preface aside, Dixie Belle and I hold hands occasionally during our early morning prayer times. This morning she tired of praying earlier than usual. Maybe it was the drizzling rain falling on the other side of the screened in porch
Carey Bailey Visits ATS LIVE tomorrow
Oh, I remember these! Do you? Years ago, many of our moms and their friends fell in love with these Daily Bread loaves in their little plastic boxes. Tomorrow on ATS LIVE we'll do a version of: "That was then, this is now" as Carey Bailey (recovering perfectionist, wife, proud mama and Family Life director for her church in Surprise, Arizona) joins us to share an updated version for our
