…How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. Matthew 23:37

Those words were with me when I opened my eyes this morning and they were still circling in my thoughts as I took my coffee to the back porch and sat down to pray. I recognized them as the mournful lament Jesus once spoke over the holy city of Jerusalem, but honestly, I felt like He was repeating them to a whole shell-shocked world of people who have denied His existence, spurned His love, and shut Him out– only to wonder where He is and why He doesn’t do something.

He did do something. He’s still doing something.

He provided salvation. And He’s still offering it.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him would not perish but would have everlasting life.

John 3:16

Like you, my heart is burdened for those who are wounded and grieving from the massacre at Hobbs Elementary School in Uvalde.

I wish I could believe pure evil like this could be controlled, legislated, and eradicated, and no doubt there are steps we can take to protect against this type of carnage, but I pray we open our eyes to the truth.  As long as we continue to laugh at evil and promote a culture of death that mocks God, we’re painting the porch while the house is on fire. We have a sin problem and a Savior who can solve it!

It’s hard to comprehend the pain and agony that one demented soul can wreck on this world, be it Hitler, Putin, or a teenager in Texas.

But it’s immeasurable harder to articulate the hope available to us through the life, death, and resurrection of One supernatural being if we would quit pushing Him away.

I am praying for a move of God’s Spirit across our land that brings conviction and repentance. I am praying that we change direction, head for the Door that is Christ Jesus our Lord, and not look back.

After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, Rev 4:1

I am running for the Door
See me running for the Door
I am running for the Door
Run with me.

Hugs,
Shellie

Yes this world needs Jesus. Thank you for sharing the gospel with us. God has his arms around the people in Uvalde.
