Bubba the Chess Boxer
Hello folks, let’s chat…~smile~ Bubba has found a new sport and true to form, the overgrown kid is all in. It’s called chess boxing, a competition that combines the brainy game of chess with the brawny sport of boxing. The sport was born across the big pond but it has since made it to America, and to Bubba. Let me be clear. This worries me.
The Joke’s on Who?
Scarcely a day goes by that I don’t run across an article by someone with an ax to grind against southerners and that’s no exaggeration. Due to the nature of my work here I feel a certain responsibility to keep to top of these sorts of stories for y’all so I have set up some Google alerts to bring them to my attention. Frankly, it

She was born in Kentucky April 14, 1935, the second of Clara and Ted Webb’s eight children. This child of the depression was fourteen years old when a handsome 21 year old came home from serving his country and stole her heart. Ten years and four children later, the young Kentucky mother who had always loved to sing had taught herself to play the guitar

Someone sent me a video clip of the sweetest marriage proposal. It opens with a young man singing a love song to his sweetie. Suddenly a friend of theirs dances into view lip syncing joyfully. Then another arrives, and another. As the boy guides his sweetheart along a marked path, their loved ones appear from all directions performing solos, duets, and quartets. The girlfriend has

Andy Andrews to Visit ATS LIVE t/row, Mon. the 22nd
Most of you know that Sunday evenings generally find me prepping for Monday evening's radio show. By now you're accustomed to my asking y'all to join me for another visit on ATS LIVE, but never have I felt like it was more important for y'all to engage. As the presidential election nears, and the mud-slinging gets deeper, my special guest and I are going to wade into the discussion.
The Grand Old Opry and Mark Chestnutt
I’ll always remember going to the Grand Old Opry as a child. It was the highlight of one of our family vacations and the focus of today’s Southern Quote. The GRAND OLD OPRY was born in 1925 when one of radio's pioneer announcers, George D. Hay, who proclaimed himself "The Solemn Old Judge" at the ripe age of 30, launched the WSM Barn Dance in
Fall’s Favorite Spice Tea
These cool mornings have me hankering for Fall’s Favorite Spice Tea. I simply love to make up a big batch of this stuff when the temps start falling. It's nice to mix up and keep on hand, not just for yourself, but to offer a guest. I’m altogether sure I’ve shared the recipe with y’all before but I can’t help it. Every year when I
