Fall’s Favorite Spice Tea
These cool mornings have me hankering for Fall’s Favorite Spice Tea. I simply love to make up a big batch of this stuff when the temps start falling. It's nice to mix up and keep on hand, not just for yourself, but to offer a guest. I’m altogether sure I’ve shared the recipe with y’all before but I can’t help it. Every year when I
Is That a Bagel on Your Forehead?
Hello folks, let’s chat…~smile~ This is not a test. This is an actual alert concerning an SRC outbreak. You need to be aware of this so you can guard against it happening to someone you love. SRC, if you’ll remember, stands for Straight Running Crazy, a syndrome describing people who are no longer detouring from more lucid positions. Today’s exhibit: The Bagel Heads of Japan.
Weekend Warriors
OH, the fun we had this past weekend when the Houston baby czars joined the Louisiana czars! Four little ones under four creates the most wonderful chaos. I relished the first opportunity for them to play in Keggie and Pop's Grand Play House. The pictures don't do the spot justice, so here's some FYI: It's a walk-in closet that I cleaned out for them. I painted the bottom
Careful, Lest You Drift Off Course
I saw Phil off to work and walked back inside, trying to decide if I should go kayaking. There was no real reason not to resume my morning rides. The sinus infection that had sidelined me was mostly vanquished and little more than a week had passed since I’d been on the water, but surprisingly, that seemed just long enough for my desire to wane.
Marques Haynes
He was born into a poor family living in Sand Springs, Oklahoma in 1926, or 1923. Not even Marques knows his true age. He’ll say only that he put himself on hold and he’s been on hold for a long time. Marques fell in love with the game of basketball at a young age, learning to dribble in the dirt and by bouncing tennis ball
Boudreaux’s Back Seat Drivers
I’ll refrain from mentioning my dear friend by name in this segment. I will tell you that she is the classic back-seat driver, only she’s usually riding shotgun. The same behavior applies. The woman does a fine job of driving from her side of the car. Now, if she were telling this story she would probably say this is necessary because I’m not paying attention
Replacing the replacements
Hello folks, let’s chat
Courtney Walsh to visit ATS LIVE, Monday the 8th
Heads up, freaders! (That's friend/readers for any newcomers.) I do hope you're making plans to join me tomorrow evening for ATS LIVE, the radio talk show that is unlike anything else on air, and I don't even think I'll elaborate on that. You'll just have to join us and experience the porch for yourself. I'm excited about my special guest, Courtney Walsh. Courtney is an author, scrapbooking expert,
Spice tea + comfy jeans + cool weather = Bestseller? Oh, just say yes!
Awoke to an awesome Saturday. Temps have dropped and I have a free block of time to get some words down on the work in progress. But, hey-- I may be offline but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking about y'all, dear readers. And to prove it, I thought I'd post one of my favorite fall treats. I whip up this Spice Tea every year around this time. It's next week's
Are You Camping on Concrete
I was fifteen when my parents built the house they’re in now. I remember when the foundation was poured. My sisters and I felt duty bound to trace our names in the wet concrete beside the carport. I don’t remember asking permission. Note to self: I should ask Mama if she and Papa appreciated our signatures or if they were surprised by them. However, I
