Authors & Aspiring Writers need to see this Mind Mapping Memo from the Belle of All Things Southern

Happy Friday, folks! I love to bring y’all things that I find helpful and right now, I’m intrigued with the concept of Mind Mapping. Granted, I’m coming to the table late, way late I’m sure, but I’m here! Special thanks to Lucille Zimmerman at WordServe Watercooler for the post that brought it to my attention.

Note: You don’t have to be a writer to use this, I see great potential here for all sorts of creativity, but any writer or aspiring writer needs to see it. I’ve hyperlinked the pic here to one of the most helpful Youtube videos I found on the subject. Enjoy~

Hugs,
Shellie

I’d be interested to know if you find it useful.

Yes, Miss Shellie, I find it useful.
Let me tell you a story. 🙂

Two years ago I found myself with more roles than I felt I had energy to manage. I spent ineffectual days running around in circles, feeling like I was accomplishing nothing, my brain feeling like Charles Schultz’ character Pigpen looks, and was slipping into a depressed downward spiral.

Then I found a free App for mind mapping and putting myself in the center, mapped out all the roles that was tugging at me, and all the different tasks associated with each. Once I looked at the disorganized mess of my mind … uh, I mean, mind MAP … I understood why I had felt so overwhelmed! I was overpopulated with brain buddies, you know, all those kids in your brains that yell and scream and jump up and down, offering advice, telling stories, or just saying, “Me! Me! Do me next!”. And you do know what happens if you let children run wild, right?

Using the App, I was able to organize and group my different tasks and dreams and make some plans for my days that allowed me to tackle the things in order of priority.

Then I used it to further plan the steps I needed to take to achieve some of the goals – my writing, crafting, learning, web designs.

Now I’m using it to brainstorm and outline my adult book.

Basically, if I don’t use something like this I end up with wasted days and a swirling black hole for a brain. I’m a mapper, yes I am, and I’ll never go back.

Was that what you wanted to know?
