Cajun Chow Mien
Hello folks! Welcome back to the All Things Southern kitchen. Tell me something. When I say chow mien, do you think Chinese? Have mercy! That’s what I was afraid of. But, never fear. I’m here to show you how to make Cajun Chow Mien. This is southern style and it’s some good eating. Let’s get cooking!
- 1 small bell pepper
- 1 small onion
- 1 pound hamburger meat
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- 1 Can Rotel
- 1 Can Cream of Mushroom Soup
- 1 Can Cream of Celery Soup
- Dash of Worcestershire sauce
- Dash of Panola hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon Tony’s Chacheres Original Seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
We’ll begin my sauteing a diced onion and pepper in a little butter. Then we’ll brown our hamburger meat, drain the fat from the meat and transfer the veggies and beef to a nice big casserole dish. To our meat and vegetables we’ll add a cup of uncooked rice, a can of Rotel tomatoes, and one can each of cream of celery and cream of mushroom soup. We’ll add two cans of water, and a dash of Worcestershire, a dash of Panola hot sauce and a teaspoon of Tony’s Chacheres Original Seasoning. That’s it! Just cook it in a 350 degree oven for thirty to forty-five minutes. You’ll want to stir it occasionally to keep if from sticking and maybe add a little water if it begins to dry out. Other than that, when the rice is ready, you’ve got some fine Chow Mien– Cajun Style!
