Merry Christmas Catchup from our home to yours!
Hello friend, So much has happened since I wrote to y'all. It's hard to imagine how to recap it all, but knowing where to start is easy. Our family had a close call the week before Thanksgiving. The Beloved Farmer had an emergency appendectomy and things got dicey by the time he was wheeled into surgery. We could've lost him. It's hard to type those words.
Checking in with y’all about my new “influencer” role, and so much more!
Goodness gracious! I've got so much to tell y'all, I'm having a hard time deciding where to begin. Fair warning, I feel sure I'm going to get longwinded here, but here we go, (in no particular order!) This fall's speaking schedule is winding down even though it feels like it just kicked off! I'm headed off to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania this weekend. True story-- I only
Farming is dangerous but God is good!
I need to testify tonight, and it may be a long read but I post a lot about our way of life, and for the most part, it’s good and I mean everything I say. We love it. But, I rarely talk about the challenges of farming, the low commodity prices, the incredibly long hours, and the dangers involved in bringing crops to market. This
What’s making my eyes water today, and a free book for YOU!
Hey friend! I'm back in your inbox a little quicker than normal. Right? Well, it's going to be brief! Fact it, it has occurred to me that there was a development around here I haven't share with this reading community that is so dear to my heart! I'll close with that little news! First, here is why my eyes are watering today, and it's all
A Grab Bag of Thoughts and a Question I’d Love You to Answer
Hey friends! We're knee deep into summer now and it is hot in these parts. I do hope you're managing to stay cool where you are. This is random info, but I'm actually typing from the back porch with the fans going full force because I totally prefer it over the air conditioning. The beloved farmer thinks I'm nuts, but then he is in the
On how to think straight with a few lagniappe thoughts from Shellie
Hey, friend! I've been thinking about you. All of you. I wanted to catch up with what's going on in your world, and tell you about my recent trip to Alaska where I spoke to the staff of Artic Barnabas. AB is a ministry that exists to serve pastors and missionaries in remote Alaska and I fell in love with their mission to the people
March Madness Lagniappe from my house to yours!
Hello friend! It's high time we catch up, wouldn't you say? I'll go first. It's March Madness on so many levels around here. There's NCAA basketball fever, for sure. We Tomlinsons love us some basketball. You can read that as we'll be those people grieving when the winners finish cutting down the nets, but that's a few weeks off, so right now we're in hog
Merry Christmas from my house to yours
Merry Christmas, friend! I'm not naive enough to expect any of you fine people to read this today, but hey, it will be here when you do find time to catch up and breathe. So, whenever that is, pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea and let's chat
Typewriter Magic: How Grandma’s Special Gift Inspired a Lifetime of Dreams
Let me tell you a story… I’ve written to you before about my love for the beautiful national magazine, American Essence. I can’t remember how I ran across this gem, but I have been hooked from the first issue I read. In their own words, American Essence is “a magazine that focuses on traditional American values and great American stories. It tells the stories of real
The Emperor is nekkid again and this time he has plenty of company
Greetings, friend, and thank you for being a part of this deeply appreciated community! I'm fresh off my last speaking engagement of the season. Serving the women of The Crossing Church in Kernersville, NC was a pure delight but Monday has come with a ton of mountain of responsibilities and tasks that need addressing. I'll get to them, but first, I wanted to share something
