Bio Talking Points for Interviews

INTRODUCTION OF Shellie Rushing Tomlinson

Shellie is the author, speaker, and radio host known as the Belle of All Things Southern. Ask her how she got the title. It’s pretty easy to get one of your own!

Shellie has been called “laugh out loud” by Jeff Foxworthy and her debut book in the faith market was endorsed by Kori and Missy Robertson of A&E’s Duck Dynasty fame who agreed that Shellie’s work helps others draw closer to God.

Shellie got her start in the book industry the old-fashioned way. She worked, worked, and worked harder, while reading everything she could get her hands on about breaking into publishing. Soon however, fueled by a type A personality and a conviction that she had something to say, Shellie got enough of trying to crack the publishing mystery and self-published three titles all by her lonesome to try and get a foot in the door. To her delight, proven sales from those titles resulted in agents and publishers interested in her new project! She has since had four books released from traditional publishers. Shellie fought the same chicken and egg scenario when she tried to break into radio, but over time she cracked that code, too. Shellie claims that without spell check she wouldn’t even be able to spell the word that means give up and rhymes with “fit”!

Shellie is an unabashed advocate of social media. She believes in using every tool at her disposal to build relationships with readers and listeners. She has thousands of followers on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, but she prefers to call them all friends. (She’s on Snapchat, too, but good luck connecting there. That platform confuses her!)

When not on air or on the road speaking, Shellie enjoys her most coveted roles. She married the blond haired boy of her dreams more than three decades ago and they live and farm in northeast Louisiana. They have two happily married kids and five grandchildren Shellie christened The Fabulous Five!

Media Reactions

From the industry:

“Through the simple stories and practical principles in Devotions For The Hungry Heart, Shellie Rushing Tomlinson invites all comers to share her love for God and His Word. This little book could very well change your world, one day at a time.  ~Pat Williams, Orlando Magic senior vice president and author of COACH WOODEN’S FORGOTTEN TEAMS

“Shellie Rushing Tomlinson has a gift for making All Things Sacred super simple to understand. Devotions For The Hungry Heart simultaneously serves up daily bread while whetting a healthy appetite for what truly matters in life. Some people push souls away with their inapproachable  Christianese. Shellie slices through the heart and head like an ice cream headache. It hurts so good! I hope she has another book underway, because I’m already hungry for another helping. ~Nicole Seitz, author of The Cage-maker and Trouble the Water

“In Devotions for the Hungry Heart my friend Shellie Tomlinson is both witty and wise, timely and thought-provoking, southern and soul-searching. Whether our walk with Jesus is decades old or days old these devotionals will create in each one of us a heart hungry for more of Jesus.” Denise Hildreth Jones, author of Reclaiming Your Heart Founder and President Reclaiming Hearts Ministries

“The hardest part of reading this devo is sticking to one day. The temptation is to read ahead and devour the incredible real life stories Shellie uses to illuminate scripture in her unique and endearing belle style. I mean really, during my next backyard He & Me Retreat, how will I ever not peek around for marauding redheaded cows during prayer time? Not only are the recipes totally yum, Devotions for the Hungry Heart  serves up juicy, tasty, bite-sized morsels of the Bread of Life to satisfy the hungriest and thirstiest spirit. Another helping, please. “ ~Debora M. Coty, popular speaker, inspirational humorist and award-winning author of 30 books, including the bestselling Too Blessed to be Stressed series. www.DeboraCoty.com
