Home-Style Scalloped Potatoes
Welcome back to the All Things Southern kitchen folks! My Home-Style Scalloped Potatoes are on the menu today and this dish is the epitome of comfort food! It’s a hit anytime but I do so like to stir it up during our busiest farming seasons. When the hours are long and the days are running into each other, it’s a perfect time to serve my Home-Style Scalloped Potatoes!
Ingredients:
2 pounds of potatoes thinly sliced
1 medium yellow onion
3/4 to 1 cup heavy cream
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
Green onions
We’ll begin by washing and slicing two pounds of red potatoes– oh, and we’ll leave the skins on. Then we’ll also take a medium yellow onion and slice it as thin as possible.
We’ll layer half of these potatoes and half of the onions in a greased casserole dish and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Then we’ll scatter a few pats of butter over the top along with half a cup of grated cheddar cheese and repeat the process.
Next, we’ll pour about 1 cup of heavy whipping cream over the second layer. (This isn’t exactly a diet dish. No sir. Just keep reminding yourselves that moderation is the key.)
Once we’ve poured the whipping cream over the top of our dish we’ll cover it with foil and bake for 40-50 minutes at 350 or until the potatoes are fork tender. Then we’ll remove the foil and let the top brown. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and serve hot out of the oven. Trust me, you’ll get rave reviews! That’s my Home-Style Scalloped Potatoes and it’s good eating from the All Things Southern kitchen to yours~
