New Eyes Seeing

My birthday may have come and gone, but the blessings of the day remain and y’all are high on the list, my friends. The crazy abundance of Facebook and Twitter greetings made the day extra special, and I thank you again for taking the time to send them!

I’m enjoying some of my other gifts, too. I’m not talking about my Kayak (although it is HUGE fun and I can’t believe I waited this long to findthatnew love). The gifts I’m thinking about didn’t come wrapped in paper and they are too priceless to be bought with money.

From the first day of April until my birthday arrived on the 30th, I began asking Father for certain gifts. (It’s become my custom to ask Him for a birthday present, or presents as it came to be this year, and I highly recommend the practice!)

Here’s a sample of what I’ve been asking for during my birthday month:

Eyes to see you better…ears to hear you clearer…feet ever faster to run after You…a heart that burns brighter for You…hands quicker to serve you…arms ready to hug your other kids…the ability to articulate Your preciousness and share the things You teach me in clear words other hearts can understand…

Yeah, the list was lengthy but I didn’t have to feel the slightest bit guilty or greedy about it because I knew I didn’t come up them on my own. We love Him, because He first loves us. Word. 🙂

Here’s what I saw with my new eyes this morning:

It looks like your average caladium, and it is. But it’s also testifying, if you can hear. It’s flourescent red veins pointing to Jesus at the center of the great story, His blood spreading to the edges of time, to redeem the lives of His created.

I realize I’m getting stranger all the time. Thanks for sticking around for the journey!

Hugs, Shellie

He proves Himself to us constantly in things large and small. He’s there in largest storms and in the morning dew. He stands before us always and all we need do is open our eyes to see.

What a beautiful analogy. How precious is that blood that redeemed us and allows us to come into the throne room and call the one great God, our Father! I am sorry I missed your birthday. What a wonderful practice to ask Him for presents such as those. Oh, to love Him more. God bless you. Jackie

The caladium is beautiful! Referring to God’s beautiful creations….a friend of mine lost her husband this morning and as I was talking with her and listening as her heart is breaking, a butterfly lit on one of my Marigolds. I told her about it and told her I had found so many times God sends a message in the form of a butterfly, a loved one who has passed on, just letting you know, “I am here and I’m watching over you.” She really liked that. I told her I knew she was probably angry with God right now and she agreed, but I told her He is still there taking care of her and her husband…unfortunately He doesn’t always answer our prayers the way we want but we have to know it’s His will and He is in control and always helps us through life’s troubles if we open up and let Him.
