Plum Tasty Granola Crumble

Hello folks and welcome back to the All Things Southern kitchen. My grocery store had some big beautiful plums earlier and so, quite naturally this meant I had to get a couple pounds and make Phil a dessert.  And when he gave my Plum Tasty Granola Crumble high marks, I knew I needed to share it with y’all. Delicious dessert doesn’t mean heating up the kitchen and plowing through a list of steps, y’all. Here, I’ll prove it to you.

“Plum Tasty Granola Crumble”

One and 1/2 pounds fresh plums, peeled and sliced
Juice of one lemon
1 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon each of ground cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and anise seeds
½ cup old fashioned granola
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup brown sugar
1 stick butter

We’ll begin by preparing a pound and half of fresh plums by peeling them and slicing them into thin bite-size pieces. Squeeze the juice of one lemon into your bowl and add a cup of sugar. Now, we’ll prepare a seasoning blend by combining 1/8 teaspoon each of ground cinnamon, cloves, ginger and anise seeds. Hint, that’s basically Chinese Five Spice, only it’s four spices. But, who’s counting? We’ll stir this spice blend into our plums and layer them into the bottom of a greased 9″ x 9″ baking dish.

In a separate bowl we’ll prepare a crumb topping by combing a ½ cup each of all-purpose flour, old fashioned granola and brown sugar. Cut in a stick of butter. I like to use my hands at this point to make sure the mixture is crumbly.

We’re ready to layer this over our plums. Then we’ll put the whole thing into a 350-degree oven for about thirty minutes and prepare to have very happy mouths. Tip—your mouths will get even happier if you top your treat with a scoop of homemade ice cream. Just saying, ours did. Either way, enjoy my Plum Tasty Granola Crumble! It’s fresh, it’s fast, and it’s mighty good eating from the All Things Southern kitchen to yours~
