Praying and Snoring, Not Meant to Go Hand in Hand

Yes, I am strange. It’s a life-long condition. With that preface aside, Dixie Belle and I hold hands occasionally during our early morning prayer times. This morning she tired of praying earlier than usual. Maybe it was the drizzling rain falling on the other side of the screened in porch…

I’m just saying that it is difficult to pray when someone is beside you snoring. Loudly.

Hugs, Shellie

*On a side note, I love to read your comments but my site stats tell me that there are tons more visitors to my blog than commentors? Thou art confusing me, sweet reader. I love to hear from you. And to prove it– for the rest of April, anyone who leaves a comment box will get his or her name thrown in a pot. I’ll send out a signed copy of Sue Ellen’s Girl Ain’t Fat, She Just Weighs Heavy to a lucky winner on my birthday, April 30th! Kind of like a Happy Birthday gift in reverse!

Hi Shellie! You are far from strange, trust me. I’m a counselor- I know strange! Me n my Blizzard hold hands too, usually at his request! He does it with my daughters too!Thank you for accepting my LinkedIn request! I read Suck In Your Stomach…. Not long ago and it resonated so strongly with me I say down and wrote you an email. You emailed me back to my great surprise! I’ve recommended your book to several friends, some “born n bred” Southern and some transplanted. Anyway, please keep writing! Sorry so long- winded…. :o))

I read your blog all the time! And I think the same thing of my blog, mostly lately….it seems that people are getting more content to just read than interact, I suppose 🙂 I love a little snippet of the south whenever I can get it! Keep it up!

Hello dear Shellie! We met at Seaside, Florida, in Sundog Books. You gave me some much-needed advice and encouragement about my first novel, The Masters Ball. I sent you a message on Facebook as soon as I got home but you probably get tons of those. I love your blog and your website. Boy have I got alot of work to do! I am beginning work on my blog today. The writing is much easier than the technology part! Anyway thanks again. I have thought of you every day since we met, you are an inspiration.

I sometimes hold my dog’s hand when I am trying to drift off to sleep, and I think it’s something that she has gotten used to over time. At first, she would always pull her paw away, but now she lets me hold it until I fall asleep.

Shellie, Your emails are a bright spot every morning and I am sorry that you cannot
read minds because I am full of comments, sometimes tears, a lot of the time laughter, and
thoughts provoked by your writings. I will take the time more often to let you know
just how much I enjoy your communications!!!!
    Thank you so much,
    Barbara

Shellie, Sorry about commenting. I read you faithfully ( and forward to my married daughter as well as others). I’m not good on responding. Thats me a taker but not a giver. LOL. I have read your books; including Sue Ellen aint Fat she Just weighs Heavy. I enjoyed it so much that I gave it to my cousins last Christmas. So please don’t put my name in the pot so someone else can laugh to tears. Give Dixie Belle a hug. Thank You Again, Lucy

Well this is my first time to leave a comment – but it is also my first time to visit your blog. I just added Suck in Your Stomach…….to my Kindle today. I am a Southern Belle from Tennessee who has been living in Ohio for the past 19 years!!! Your books and your blog reaffirm what I have always known – regardless of how long I am trapped in Ohio – I will ALWAYS be a Southerner!!

I do so love your posts, both as a woman of faith and a daughter of a very, very Southern family. I have recommended your book Suck in Your Stomach and Put Some Color On more times than I can count, both for its relatability (sp?) and for its yummy recipes (some familiar, some variations, some brand new and delightful).

There are some among us whose need to be prayed for (read Dixie) is less than it is for others…that’s where the snoring comes in. Dixie obviously can cover her prayer needs rather quickly …
In case you haven’t figured it out I am a big fan of the author/radio-TV personality/Christian comedian Shellie and just as big a fan of the Canine Czar Dixie Belle.
Love from your friends in Waverly…Sandra and Miss Pearl

I love your e-mag and fb posts, but I don’t have a lot to say even though I’m southern.
