More from the porch…

Hey folks, let’s catch up! Last weekend I pulled into Centerville, TX making mental notes of all I needed to do when I got home Saturday night in preparation for a houseful of loved ones for Sunday dinner. (The Queen of Us All was the guest of honor!) Full disclosure? My spirit was full from talking to Jesus all the way here, but this aging shell my spirit lives in was dragging. My first surprise was being greeted by a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and a ridiculously extravagant gift basket. (Thx, ladies!!!) After that the surprises just kept coming.

The last time I stayed at that beautiful ranch apartment, my BFF and traveling partner Rhonda Perry was with me. This time I was traveling alone. The last time the pasture full of horses kept their distance. This time I pulled on boots to take a late evening walk, expecting much the same. It was anything but.

I spent two hours surrounded by two dozen horses bound and determined to be petted. (Yes! I was careful!) They followed me along the fence line, reaching their heads as far as possible towards me, literally lining up and taking turns at being loved.

One of the sweethearts was determined to monopolize my time, even going so far as to nip at the other horses to keep them away. ! I affectionately named him Mr. Paint when I posted a version of this chat and all of their pics on my social media wall. Imagine my embarrassment the next day when the ranch manager noted that Mr. Paint was actually Miss Paint! Oops! Seems I made an assumption without checking the equipment! But, that wasn’t the best surprise. Anyone who knows me at all will understand the significance of this last pic.

That might not be a perfectly formed heart on Miss Paint’s head, but it’s close enough to seriously mess with me. Don’t even try to tell me my Jesus wasn’t in those moments with me. You’d be wasting your breath.

The next morning I got to speak to a beautiful crowd of women about my favorite subject– beholding Jesus! I love celebrating the way He does all the heavy lifting of transforming our lives when we live with our eyes fixed on Him. “And we all with open face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2nd Corinthians 3:18

Drop me a note if I can pray for you or if you have anything on your heart to share. I do so enjoy this community!

Hugs,
Shellie
