Tachos from Shellie’s Kitchen and Good News from the Launch

Hello, my friend! I’m officially off the road until 2022. Whoo hoo! I love what I’m called to do and I’ll give it my best until Jesus calls me home, or He comes to get us– whichever comes first. That said, it feels good to be HOME! (I’m now scheduling for Spring and Fall 2022, message me if you want to start a conversation about my coming to your place to serve.) Once I got unpacked I just had to cook something fantastic to thank the beloved farmer for supporting me throughout the long travel season. Translation? I made TACHOS!  Here’s a pic

You can check the recipe out here.

And how about a glimpse of the happy husband? Slipping this pic in here because I snapped it when he came in empty-handed from a deer hunt, but happy to have been on the stand. It’s the little things.

In other news, my latest book released this past Tuesday! I’m sure I’ve told y’all about it, but here’s the short version. I wrote this one with my good friend Chrys Howard. She and I host a website/podcast/social media network called Rocking it Grand and our book bears the same name. (Saving the brain cells there! LOL!) This is the first book I’ve co-authored and that in itself has been fun, but get this: WE SOLD OUT on Amazon on our release day! That’s something we never expected, and it’s kind of a good news/bad news situation but we’re choosing to see the glass half full because Amazon is restocking even as I type this, and people are continuing to order. Chrys and I really believe in this book. Our goal is to come alongside grandparents and encourage them to intentionally pass their faith on to their kids and grandkids. It’s full of Scriptures, stories, and how-to’s, and each chapter comes with a cookie recipe from one of the great cooks in our families because who doesn’t need another cookie recipe, right?! That’s what we thought! Here’s a link to check it out.

Last week I found the following memory on one of my social media accounts. It was a sobering post that struck me struck me as deeply as it did the first time I saw it, so I shared the words I wrote about these images again on my account there, and I wanted to share them with you…
I caught a glimpse of this overgrown church on our way to TN. It hit me so hard I had to pull over and lean in to hear what the Lord was saying. Rhonda and I sat with the heaviness for a few long moments. We’re now miles down the road and I’m still thinking about it, so she’s at the wheel while I get these words out of my heart. ⁣
These sagging walls break me. The snaking vines pulling at the foundations are grievous. There were days when men of God stood behind the broken down pulpit inside to read holy words.
I wonder when the decision was made to close the doors. I wonder if the people left all at once or if they moved away slowly, maybe from wars, economic troubles or natural disasters. Perhaps the crowds dwindled almost imperceptibly, until it seemed easier to walk away than it did to maintain this sacred structure. Maybe it’s simpler than any of this. Maybe they simply built another larger church nearby. In the end, it doesn’t matter. It’s the symbolism I want to bring you. ⁣
I see a stirring charge for us here and I’m not talking about material sanctuaries anymore. The Apostle Paul once asked, “Do you not know your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you received from God?”⁣
It’s a staggering thought to consider that we believers house the very Presence of God. The Word tells us the Voice that once woke us from the dead, is continuing to call us to Him for life-giving relationship. To neglect to listen is the first step in abandoning the sanctuary. Beware the incremental fade that threatens our temples.⁣
One more thing…Whether you’re a believer or not, stop and imagine what it would look like if this became a reality across this great nation.  It could happen.  We need Jesus, America. All of us, red and blue. Pray with me.

Blessings, friends!
Hugs,
Shellie

P.S. I’ve got a short clip for you below that may melt your heart. It did mine! Do consider hitting subscribe on Youtube. I have plans for that channel and some future Bible teaching videos that require it to get to 1k and it’s a couple hundred short right now. I’d appreciate the help! THANKS!
