The Valuable Waste

Angry, frustrated, hurt, sad, misunderstood, depressed, discouraged, used

Choose one word from that list above that describes a negative emotion feel right now or one you’ve experienced in the last twenty-four hours and fill in the following blank. I feel so __________.

(Okay, I’ll go first, my most recent blank would read frustrated.)

Perhaps you’re already over your _____________ feeling. Maybe it’s still with you. Either way, I want to share some first hand experience with you. It’s possible to let your  ____________ mood simply dissipate over time. Yep. You know it’s true. Sometimes, we can just wait out a mood. It’s possible to let the emotion run it’s course until the tension in your belly eases and your thoughts turn elsewhere. That’s one choice. But, oh, what a waster it is!

That choice wastes precious moments of our lives. And more importantly, it wastes valuable opportunities to strengthen our bond with the Spirit of the living God that lives in every believer and is ever willing to do life with us.

It takes more effort, initially, to take the thing to God’s throne. Again, I speak from experience. Choosing to pour my heart out and listen for Him to pinpoint what’s going on in me that I can’t see because I’m feeling so  _____________ requires a stillness and a humility that I’m generally not into at the time. But, oh, what a life-giving choice it is!

The Spirit of God never fails to bring insight to my heart and soothe it simultaneously. Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah. Psalm 62:8

That _____________ mood of yours? Take it to our good, good Father. We never know what’s in our hearts until we pour them out.

Later, y’all!

Hugs,
Shellie
