Uncle Stan Expands His Business
Hello folks, let’s chat… Good news for all of you Aunt Marleta fans. She and Uncle Stan were in our neck of the woods recently. I dropped by Mama and Papa’s to have coffee with the whole crew. It was as much fun as ever and, of course, I brought y’all back a story.
The first thing I noticed was that Uncle Stan looked a lot better than he did the last time I saw him. To be sure, that happened to have been when Aunt Marleta was so into planning the details of his upcoming funeral. I don’t know about y’all, but I can see how that would help a fellow catch his second wind. I’m just saying he looked like he had lost some weight and his color was much healthier. Basically, he looked stronger all around. I told him so. Uncle Stan thanked me. Aunt Marleta jumped in and gave me some back story.
She told me that Uncle Stan had been spending all of his time going to estate sales, which means he is getting a lot of exercise these days. Uncle Stan chimed in and said he likes to run across antique clocks more than anything else.
“That’s really my passion, Shellie. I like to buy old clocks, repair ‘em, and then sell ‘em.”
“He’s obsessed is what he is,” Aunt Marleta said. “He prints out all these ads and makes himself a schedule of all the sales. Then he drives all over Natchez and stomps around all those old houses for hours. Then he loads his truck up with as much stuff as he can carry home. The thing is, after all of that, he sells ‘em for just about what he paid for them. I don’t know how he plans to make any money.”
“Well, Leta”, Uncle Stan said. “That proves you don’t know everything about my business. I’ve been thinking about buying me a bigger truck.”
Hugs, Shellie
