Every Rainbow a Clue

Some people are good at keeping secrets. My oldest sister is not one of them. The other day Cyndie announced that she’d already bought mine and Rhonda’s Christmas presents. Knowing her as I do, I removed myself from her vicinity as quickly as possible. Cyndie’s history of releasing the cat from the bag goes way back. Some of you may remember the story I told right here of the time Cyndie climbed her grade school self to the top of Mama’s closet and produced my Christmas obsession, a doll as big as I was that cried, “Mommy.” Incidentally, Cyndie told me the doll wouldn’t be the only one crying if I ratted her out—and I didn’t, at least until we were grown, the statue of limitations had expired, and she was at least one state removed.

Rare are the times that I’ve ever opened a Christmas present from Cyndie when I didn’t know what was inside. Cyndie has been known to hand you a beautifully decorated gift and tell you what’s inside before you can get the wrapping off! God love her, I understand. It’s hard to keep quiet when you’re planning something special for someone you love.

The very thought causes me to pause and celebrate the greatest gift the world has even known. Ephesians 2:4 says, “God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ, (by grace you have been saved) and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” Now, that’s shouting scripture right there, but listen to verse seven, “so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” God is planning a big reveal that’s literally out of this world. Every rainbow is a clue, every sunrise a hint. I so hope to see you at the unveiling!

My hugs and His Great Blessings,
Shellie
