Igniting Smoldering Dreams

I had the most vivid God dream. If we had the time, over coffee, I’d tell you why I’m convinced of that. In this dream, I was playing basketball in a crowded gym before a raucous crowd that was literally lined elbow to elbow around the playing floor. One scenario kept repeating itself. I’d be dribbling up the court for a fast-break layup when I would lose the ball. By lose the ball, I don’t mean dribble it off my foot. I would LOSE the ball as in, poof! We’d have to locate another ball before resuming the game.

This continued until the clock was about to expire. I looked around in desperation. We were out of balls! “Here,” someone shouted. They threw me a basket, a wicker basket, and I tossed it in the goal for three points as the clock sounded. We won that strange little game and the dream, well, it got even stranger but we’ll save the rest for later. We have more than enough to talk about here.

I won’t pretend to know what it all means, but I’ve come to a few conclusions about this dream and I think I’m supposed to share them with y’all.

I think God puts purposes in each of us. Perhaps you are fearless, but for me, the dream was my concern over whether or not I could do all the things He is asking of me without losing the ball completely.  One of those purposes is something called Writers and Readers Reach Out 2012. I’ll be talking to you more about it in the coming weeks.

For now, I want to leave you with a thought. Today’s Comfort may not be for you, but if God has put a dream in you and if you’re feeling it smolder, I want to encourage you to move on it. Obey and watch Him fan that spark into a flame. Let’s keep our eyes on the goal. We can trust Him to supply what we need from the most unlikely of places right when we need it.

Hugs,
Shellie
