The A-List is Draining the life out of you. Here’s how to get it back!

Hey friend, I’m meeting myself coming and going on the road right now, but you are never far from my mind. Honest! I’m always asking the Lord for ways to add value to your life, to ease your load, to make you chuckle, but most of all, to help you discover the abundance of Christ Jesus. And not because I think I’ve arrived. Goodness no, but to quote Paul, “I am pressing on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus!” So, here’s something I think will help you, if you have ears to hear…

The A-List is draining the life out of you and I want to help you get it back. I’m not talking about the A-List of celebrities and influencers you follow either. That’s a story for another day. I’m talking about the A-List of things we try to get from man, like affection, approval, affirmation, acknowledgement, acceptance, and acclamation. That’s an incomplete list, but let’s address it.

We’re often told to turn to the Lord when these A-List monsters come for us. Example? We’re told that when we feel less than in man’s sight, we should remind ourselves that we’re each uniquely created in God’s image and deeply loved by our Creator! That’s true, and it’s great advice. Start there. But, let me tell you something I’ve discovered that gives me even more life!

Learn to give God whatever you find yourself wanting from man. If you feel left out and invisible, acknowledge God and His Omnipotence. When you don’t feel appreciated, begin to give Him thanks. If you don’t feel affirmed, start praising Him! If you don’t feel like you’re getting enough affection from your— you fill in the blank— turn your thoughts to the Lord and begin expressing your love to Him!

Reminding ourselves that God loves us and accepts us, still makes it all about us. Start there but don’t stop there. Offering God what you think you need from man puts God at the center of our world instead of the incessant needs of me, myself, and I, and it’s where the abundant life is found, friend. Try it and let me hear from you!

Hugs,
Shellie

P.S. The image is me reintroducing myself to Shiloh. I’ve had to apologize for begin an absentee owner, but only Father God can be everywhere at all times. 🙂
