Nature at Work
Okay, call this a shameless plug, but I want to give a shout out to one of the newest reality shows to hit the market. I figured I owed it to y’all since yours truly has been open about how little regard I have for most of ‘em. Yes, as a general rule, the beloved hubby and I haven’t been big reality TV fans. Heretofore, the only one we’ve really enjoyed was Swamp People. However-—that was before Duck Dynasty. The swamp folks are going to have to move over a bit and make room for my bayou buddies! Duck Dynasty premiered March 21st on the A&E channel. Google that website and catch up if you missed the opening. It stars a family I’m proud to call friends, the Robertsons of West Monroe, LA—good people who are true blue. They share my priorities, faith, friends and family. Please check ‘em out! During the first show, a snake dropped in the boat with the boys and Prince Willie hit the water. It was must see TV.
It got me to thinking of an old story that bears a repeat. This one happened down in Florida on one of those jungle-cruise boat rides you find on the side of the road. Some folks still make a living taking city people on those tours. Folks love seeing the low overhanging vegetation, the thick growth in the water and the snakes and alligators.
One day an experienced cruise guide was asked by a Yankee tourist, “Do you ever have trouble with snakes dropping into the boat from overhanging branches?”
“Nope,” said the guide, “there’s no problem. You get a snake in the boat, you get people in the water. You get people in the water, you got alligators, so you get people back in the boat. Nope, it’s no problem at all.”
Hugs,
Shellie
