Spy Wednesday Matthew 26:6–16 By Wednesday of H Spy Wednesday
Matthew 26:6–16

By Wednesday of Holy Week, opposition to Jesus had reached a breaking point. The religious leaders were no longer just threatened—they were plotting. But they had a problem. Jesus was loved by the crowds, and they needed a way to take Him quietly, out of sight of the people.

Enter Judas.

One of Jesus’ own stepped forward and offered what they needed most—access. For thirty pieces of silver, Judas agreed to hand Jesus over at just the right moment. That quiet agreement is why we remember this day as Spy Wednesday.

Judas’ story is unsettling. He walked with Jesus. He heard His teaching. He was in a trusted position . And yet somewhere along the way, his heart drifted. Scripture ties his fall to the love of money, but his life speaks of how unchecked choices slowly shape who we become.

Judas didn’t start as a traitor. He became one.

And that’s the warning for all of us. We are always becoming something. And it is entirely possible to be around truth, hear truth, even learn truth—and never be changed by it if you don’t live surrendered to Truth Himself.

Praise God, Scripture gives us the antidote. We don’t drift when we do what we hear. We are kept, not by proximity to truth, but by obedience to it. As James says, we are to be doers of the Word, not hearers only.

So the question isn’t just who we are.
It’s who we are becoming.

And the safest place to be is not standing at a distance, trying not to fall—but drawing closer and closer to Jesus with every step.

Holy Tuesday Luke 20:9–18 Holy Tuesday found Je Holy Tuesday
Luke 20:9–18

Holy Tuesday found Jesus teaching truth through story while standing firm against leaders determined to trap Him. With quiet authority, He exposed their hearts while revealing God’s.

In His parable of the vineyard, the picture is clear.
God is the owner.
Israel’s leaders are the tenants.
The servants are the prophets sent again and again.
And the beloved Son is Jesus Himself.

The religious leaders knew exactly who they were in Jesus’ story. They were the ones entrusted with God’s vineyard, yet unwilling to yield it back to Him. When the Son came, they rejected Him, hoping to seize what was never theirs to begin with.

This is the sin that reaches all the way back to the garden. The original temptation wasn’t just disobedience—it was the desire to rule instead of being ruled, to be our own authority instead of trusting God’s. That same pull still lives in us.

But Ephesians reminds us what Jesus came to do. Through the Cross, Christ made a way for our sins to be forgiven and our relationship with His Father restored. He brought together those who were far off and those who were near—making one new people, reconciled to God through Himself. The inheritance we grasp for is not something we take; it is something we receive through surrender.

Jesus is both the warning and the invitation.
We can resist Him and cling to the illusion of control…
or we can recognize Him, receive Him, and yield.

Everything we have—and everything we are—belongs to Him. #holytuesday
