Welcome to my Birthday Month!

Welcome to my birthday month! I decided long ago that a birth day was too short a celebration. I usually try and stretch it out for a week, but this time I’m thinking a full month is in order! Friends, I will be half a century old on the last day of April, which just seems crazy, but you can’t mess with math. Of course, that’s not exactly fair because math is notorious for messing with me, but then I’m getting off topic earlier than usual.

So, here’s the deal. As I told my Twitter and Facebook friends, I’ve always heard that if you can make it to the age of fifty without growing up, you don’t have to. And if that’s the criteria, Good Lord willing, I’ve got this, y’all! There’s a great big world out there created by an even bigger and intensely personal God. Just like a little kid, I’ve got questions, endless questions. And here’s the good part. He has all the answers. Jesus lived, suffered, died, and arose that we might call His Father ours, and I’m going to pursue everything I can know of Him and His ways until He takes me out of here. I’ve discovered the delight of asking why. I’ll read a verse of His good word and say, “Why is that?” or “Why did that happen?” or “Why didn’t that happen?” Why, why, why.

I know what you’re wondering. Do I always get an answer? Absolutely not, Father obviously has me on a need to know basis. But let me be clear. I’m addicted to the unequaled delight of having a thought settle in my heart that I can tie directly to another passage and knowing deep down that the Teacher who lives in me is responding. There is no thrill like that thrill. If you don’t know it, you need to and I give you a million reasons why.
