Breathe, it’s highly recommended :)

Happy Monday, y’all! I wanted to take time for a quick visit. Hopefully, if I’ve caught you at a bad time, you can just leave me in your inbox and circle back. 🙂 It’ll wait, as they say.

Life is full steam ahead here. How about a short recap? Last week my oldest sister and her family moved back to our hometown from Arkansas. She and her husband are raising her two grandchildren and they each have some significant health challenges. I’m thankful to have them close so I can help!

In other news, and because 2020 needs a whooping, two storms are barreling our way at the same time– even as we are geared up for harvest. Ripe crops meet high winds and rain?! Not good. But God. We’re battening down the hatches and praying for God’s protection. However this thing turns out, I want you to know ahead of time that God will be faithful to us. That’s a fact. It may or may not look like what we are praying for, but it will have been tested and weighed out in heaven. Updates forthcoming…

In work related news, I’ve just finished putting the finishing touches on a proposal for my next book. It’s a natural follow-up to Finding Deep and Wide. (Have you had a chance to read that one? Oh, I do hope so. I put my heart and soul in it! If you have, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.) The grand-parenting lifestyle site I host with my friend Chrys Howard is also keeping me busy. Here’s an article that just ran there about the Queen’s birthday party. I think you’ll enjoy it.

The grands continue to grow like weeds. Number six, Miss Kennedy Lee, is proving to be little Miss Personality and she is not lacking for attention, I give you that!

In closing, I realize your world is spinning, too, my friend. It was actually my main motivation to throw the brakes on and write. I think about you and how you’re handling these crazy days on planet Earth. Are you tending to yourself by leaning into Jesus? I can’t recommend this enough. Our souls need a regular breather, an ongoing reset, and we find this in Him.

As is my custom, I totally unplugged Sunday and the rest was so very needed, so very good. ⁣

I was walking around my yard with my camera letting God restore me through His marvelous creation when I accidentally disturbed this little guy. Pretty sure the frown on his face speaks volumes on my intrusion.

I let him be and carried on, but he taught me a lesson I want to share with you. ⁣
⁣This frog’s hiding place didn’t overtake him, or suddenly grow up around him. He sought it out. ⁣

Did you know God wants to be your hiding place, your refuge from the nonstop onslaught on your senses? It’s so blessedly true, but He won’t pull you kicking and screaming into His rest. You have to choose it. You have to seek Him. It’s a decision you’ll never regret. ⁣

You are my hiding place. Psalm 32:7

Y’all take care, and do hit reply and let me know how you are! You’re always in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs,
Shellie

This year has been a challenge in so many, many ways. As I continue to “get down” I remind myself, Shellie’s is coming and it is almost time. You always bring me back to God where I belong. Blessings on your farmland as the hurricanes slash and whip. God never lets us down, always brings us up to something better. I love you sweet friend, now hurry up and get here!

My challenges, cares, hurts all seem so small in comparison to y’all praying for crops to reach harvest. Thank you to all the farming and ranching families. God’s blessings in each and every one.
Thanks for the reminder to let go, seek refuge and breathe in Gods freedom, grace mercy and peace. Thanks, Sweet Shellie.

You are my hiding place always brings Corrie ten Boom to mind. She clung to that verse. We just went thru Hurricane Hanna a few weeks ago and all the cotton fields that were ready for harvest had to be turned under because the rain ruined all the beautiful bolls. So sad. God is still in control.

Thank you, Shellie, for several beautiful reminders. One, that everyone is fighting their own battle. Though different, each is significant. Two, God is good and right and trustworthy no matter the circumstance. And lastly, I must daily, intentionally choose the rest and refuge offered me through Christ. Prayers are being offered for your farming family. I love you.

What a gift to see that little frog hiding…perfect reference to scripture that is so necessary for our souls. Yes, we have to choose rest, no one can do it for us. Praying the rain and the Lord show mercy on the crops! You are right, it is going to be ok, even if it’s not ok. Love!!!

Praying for you as always sweet Shellie! I’m sure God and the Farmer have it all under control! Thank you for the much needed reminder that He wants us to seek Him and cast all of our cares His way! Blessings for your day!
