Chapter Five of Sierra’s Story — and a chat from Shellie’s porch

In Chapter Five of Sierra’s Story a newcomer arrives in town, only he isn’t a stranger to Sierra. What’s more, his arrival might be the proverbial straw that ends up breaking the back of the Gray family.

And now, let’s chat…If anyone enjoyed this rainy Spring, it was my herb garden. I have basil to spare. I recently told the folks on my Instagram and Facebooks walls that the abundance was stumping me and I could use some new recipes featuring basil. Wow. I’m still trying to gather all of the amazing suggestions. I hope to compile it soon and I’ll share when I do. For now, I’ll walk you through my basic basil pesto here. You’ll find a version of this recipe all over the web with only slight variations so here’s my disclaimer. I can’t really claim the basics as my own. The beloved farmer and I had my basil pesto with pasta at lunch today. It was both simple and yummy! I posted the recipe here: Basic Basil Pesto.

True to form, once our weather decided to warm up, it got down to business in record time. It is now officially hot, and that means— drum roll—  the boat is in the water and summer is on! Nothing says summer like watermelon to this country woman. I realize that’s one sad manicure in this pic. I’m blaming it on all the yardwork and gardening going on around here.

The only one happier than your hostess about the boat being back in the water would be one dog named Hank. Here he is grinning when we hooked onto the boat trailer!

I’ve had a number of people asking me what I’m writing on these days and what my next book will be about. I appreciate that interest. I do! The question has a lot of answers. LOL. First things, first.

Most of you know I’ve teamed up with another author and speaker, Chrys Howard, to launch a grandparenting lifestyle site called Rocking it Grand. Chrys and I are passionate about inspiring and encouraging grandparents to be intentional about sharing God’s love with their families and leaving a lasting legacy of faith. Towards that end, we’ve written a book releasing Nov.9th, 2021 by the same name, Rocking it Grand!

You can preorder Rocking It Grand right now, and for the record, we would be so grateful. In case you don’t know this, preordering is like a power-packed vitamin that Amazon swallows and understands to order exponentially more books. Preordering does other great things like encouraging Amazon to feature the book and that will help other grandmas inspire their family legacies. That’s a lot of power in your hands, dear reader. I ask you to prayerfully consider it.  If you think you may want to make it your go-to Christmas gift giver, do think about preordering now. You’ll be ahead of the game, and you’ll help spread the message! We can’t afford to retire from this dark world, dear friends. We’re commissioned to go into it with the good news that God was in Christ Jesus offering reconciliation to all who would believe.

Beyond this new release I’ve penned with Chrys, I’m personally knee deep in the gospel of John. I have no doubt it will be the focus of my next book/Bible Study. When will that be out? Why, that’s another question entirely. I’m far too busy learning to try and teach. I can’t get enough of this book! It is LIFE.

Y’all take care, and let me hear from you.

Hugs,
Shellie
