Sierra’s Story – Chapter Six – And a chat with Shellie

In Chapter Six of Sierra’s Story we learn more about Charles Carpenter and the threat he poses to Sonny and Sierra’s fractured relationship. Will he crack their world wide open or will Sierra skirt the danger and steer them to safety? And then there are the twins, Luke and Lollie. Their drama may be a result of your average teenage angst. But what if there’s more to it?

Dear readers and listeners, I hope you can forgive the scratchy voice on the podcast. Everything is blooming around here and my sinuses are paying for it. I just couldn’t see skipping the story because I’m hearing from so many of you who are anxiously awaiting the next chapter and I can’t stand the idea of disappointing anyone. Other than the sinuses, all is well on the home front. Just busy. Way busy. I just finished tucking grandchild number six into bed for the night. We’re keeping Kennedy Lee (also known as Ken Ken the Baby Friend) for a few days while her parents and older siblings are at Lamb Camp in Arkansas. Lamb Camp! That was a new one for me. Our kids didn’t show livestock back in the day, so we’ve been learning about it through our grands’ adventures these last few years. Phil and I had never heard of Lamb Camp until now, but it’s a real thing. The kids and their parents attend together to learn more about the care and showing of their animals. Speaking of animals, Phil and I continue to enjoy our new venture into the horse world. I find checking crops on horseback is even more fun than mudding on a three-wheeler– and that’s saying a lot!

In other news, I got the cutest pic from a reader this week. Check this out.

The caption read, “Great beach read! It’s kinda like a normal conversation with my mama, sisters, and nieces!” Now, that made this little author smile, big time. I don’t do a good job of promoting my humor books, so it’s always fun when someone runs across them, and especially when they find a connection in their own families! Here’s a link to that book if you’re interested.

I’ll close now with a few words on prayer. Y’all take care and drop me a note if you want to chat.

“How Jesus Makes Friends out of Followers”

It’s never easy to settle down into prayer. And by prayer I mean anything beyond a “Good morning, Lord” greeting that would qualify as heart engaged communication. And by hard I mean consistently day in and day out hard.

The truth is we won’t live a crucified life that honors God and draw others to Jesus with a prayer life. The prayer closet will always be the first place we learn to deny ourselves, pick up our crosses and follow Him, because we pay for that prayer time with the costly exchange of our own want-to lists and to-do plans.

So, why do it? Because the payoff of His Nearness is worth every effort, every cost. Because it’s how Jesus makes disciples out of converts and friends out of faith-challenged followers.

Join me at the throne…

Hugs,
Shellie
