Choosing Christmas, Day Six

Day Six

December 8

I want to explore another reason God has Gabriel tell Mary about her relative’s late-in-life pregnancy. I see God’s tender compassion toward a startled teenager, whose life changes forever in a single moment. I see His great big heart nudging Mary into the arms of one woman who would listen to her fascinating story and believe what so many others were bound to question.

I see more to Mary’s trip to visit Elizabeth than simply a pregnant, unmarried teenager delaying the moment of reckoning in her village; although that may have played a part. This visit must have been a sorely needed “Show and Tell” for both women!

We’ve been reading about how our faith walks encourage each other. Today, I want to turn the lens around and focus on God’s response to us as we share our journeys. It’s recorded in Malachi 3:16: “Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who esteem His name.” Wow! Let’s camp on that for a moment. As amazing as it seems, God clearly loves to hear us talking about Him, so much so that He records our conversations!

6) God is listening to you and recording your words when He is mentioned in the conversation. How might that change the way you talk and interact with others today?

Shellie
