It’s a New Season at All Things Southern
Hey y’all! I’m happy to report the Beloved Farmer and I survived the 2nd Annual Pops and Keggie Kamp! That would be the one held for our grands, The Fabulous Five, and it is not for the feint of heart or body. The kids and I had a list of activities we wanted to get around to and we were checking ’em off like crazy.
Kamp led straight into our big Fourth of July celebration. We had four generations of family here stuffing ourselves with grilled burgers, ribs, chicken, home grown cream corn, fruit salad, and homemade ice cream. Papa (my father) led us in prayer before the feast began and I was tempted to grab my phone and record it. I love to hear that man thank the Good Lord for our blessings and pray over our nation.
Later that afternoon my son rigged up our traditional water slide in the back yard, using plastic sheeting and water faucets. It simply destroys the grass, but oh, it is fun and the yard eventually recovers! Oh, and our family friends attacked us by land and sea (car & boat) and launched something like a thousand water balloons on us innocent folks. (What? Y’all aren’t buying it, are you?)
Afterwards, there was more tubing on the lake where the farmer and I took a ride with our two grown kids that left both of us moaning and groaning the next day. Recovery gets slower every year. Can I get an amen? When night fell we enjoyed one of my favorites times as the lake filled with boats. I love hearing the “oohs” and “aahs” as the town fireworks light up the dark sky.
The homestead? Well, I’m still trying to whip it back into shape. But, it’s worth it! Life is short. We play hard and work harder around here. Okay, I’m gonna throw in some pics for y’all. Until next time, blessings, friends~
