Chapter Fourteen of Sierra’s Story and a Mexican Chicken Remake
I had the folks up for lunch today, also known as Papa and The Queen of Us All. I wanted to see them before the beloved farmer and I pushed off in the morning for a little anniversary get-a-way. This sweet hunk of hard-working man has been my life-long love for 40 years come August 1st, and I still can't get enough time with him.
Looking for Home
I pulled over to the shoulder and checked for cars before helping this fellow across the road earlier. I’m sure he was grateful, but he was in far too big a hurry to pause for a decent pic. I hope his journey continues safely. Learned something new about box turtles recently. Did you know a box turtle will live it’s entire life within a one mile
About those impossible things…
Is it a squash? Is it a cucumber? Is it a squashcumber! Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! I know. I’ve done my research. I’m aware that every expert out there says this can’t happen. It’s totally okay to plant squash beside cucumbers because they can absolutely unequivocally under no circumstances cross pollinate. Except they did here on the banks of Lake Providence. Feel free to spend the
Chapter 13 of Sierra’s Story with Shellie’s Thoughts on Fallen Man, Flags, and Freedom
Hey friends! I hope life is treating you kindly. This week's newsletter is going to be brief. That dislocated finger I told y'all about last week turned out to be a bad fracture. I'm endeavoring to type with said finger buddy taped to the next one and enclosed in a hand brace. Tomorrow morning I'll find out if surgery is required. God is still good.
Sierra’s Story Chapter Twelve and so much more from Shellie!
Hey friends, Per my last report, we wrapped up the 5th Annual Pops and Keggie Kamp by returning the grands to their respective homes mostly intact and none too worse for wear. I compiled a video to capture the memories. You can find it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4B1bbsN6JY&t=22s The truth is, the only casualty of the week came at the expense of yours truly. Yeah, there's a story here.. I
Sierra’s Story Chapter Eleven with tired but happy greetings from Shellie
Hi, friends! The 5th Annual Pops and Keggie Kamp is in the books. I look forward to sharing more pics and stories with you, once I recover. As it stands, that will have to wait for another day. LOL. But, seriously, I’m a very grateful Keggie, just a tired one! As you can see, KenKen the Baby Friend had her own special Kamp shirt, white with
Sierra’s Story – Chapter Ten with lagniappe from Shellie
Thanks for dropping by! It blesses me to no end that you'd take time to meet me here. I imagine you're gearing up for the Fourth, too. It's one of this family's favorite holidays. We'll give thanks for this land we love and count our many blessings. Phil and I are trying to put up as much sweet in the freezer as possible before it gets
Pepper Jack Shrimp Wraps, Yes Please!
Hey friends! I threw this picture up on my social accounts with the caption that follows: Me and thee dear shrimp are about to build some amazing wraps for lunch with the beloved farmer! (Bonus— enough of the little fellas here to have leftovers tonight once I get a TON of to-do list done!) Y’all make some noise if you want to see the recipe on
Chapter Nine of Sierra’s Story and a chat with Shellie
Welcome, my friend! I'm glad you're back. I've got one grand napping, and one occupied with a cartoon. That means my time is limited and there will be typos. Consider yourself warned. LOL! You may have noticed that your happy hostess has continued to tinker with the format of this podcast/newsletter hybrid ever since I called it quits on live radio to make more room on
Shellie’s Refrigerator Pickles
Hello there! My herb and veggie gardens are flourishing but my harvest hasn't quite begun in earnest. (I got a late start!) Yesterday, however, I got a tad eager. So I harvested a few cucumbers and a bit of fresh dill and whipped up some homemade refrigerator pickles. This recipe takes about 4 cucumbers to produce a couple pints of deliciousness. Double or triple this
