Surely it’s a myth…those long slow days of summer. Right? :)

Hello friends. I’ve been meaning to write to y’all for some time and the days just keep running into each other. I declare, I didn’t think I would still be this busy at this point in my life, but here we are. 🙂 My daughter-in-law gifted me with this little print years ago and it resonates with me more all the time.

We held The 10th Annual Pops and Keggie Kamp the last week of June and, of course, it wore me out but it’s always, always worth it!. Our tradition is to meet up in Shreveport at The Bass Pro to kick off the celebration. I’m going to try and find a comparison pic from the first Kamp to this one to drop below.

You’ll notice a new Kamper was added about five years into our Kamp tradition. We can’t imagine life without Kennedy Lee!

This year, Kamp coincided with our nation’s 250 birthday celebration so our theme was Red, White, and Grand! Our Bible focus was taken from I John 3: 1-3, “Behold, what manner of love the Father has given unto us, that we should be called the children of God…”

We filled Kamp with our usual activities. We visited the great grands, took a ride on the farm, ate a ton of snacks and homemade ice cream, fished, tubed, had morning devotions and and played backyard games. Here’s a small sample of the fun.

But since it’s next to impossible to capture all the memories from Kamp, I’ll wrap up this part of our visit by pasting the words I spoke over these grand campers during one of our daily devotions.  I wrote them in one of my early mornings dock sessions with Jesus while they were — praise Jesus — still sleeping.  What can I say? This tired Keggie needed the heavenly reinforcement!

“My Grand Dream for Each of You”

You may be a missionary in a far away land,
or a mommy, a daddy, engaged and on hand.
You may be a teacher, a lawyer, a clerk-
you could be a farmer and feeding the world is your work.

But wherever you go and whoever you’ll be
the six of you are my and Pops’ seed
along with your parents you’ll carry God’s name,
bringing Him glory and spreading His fame.

Like the yield of seed from good ground that’s sown
You’ll go further than we have known
Saving news to the world you’ll bring
Reaping a harvest for the King.

Hear this as a challenge, take up the call
You’ll never regret giving Christ your all.
Put His Word in your heart, bring your voice to His ear
Live to know Him and You’ll find Him near.

Hugs, Keggie

We wrapped up Kamp by celebrating the Fourth with their parents and mine. And since it was our nation’s birthday, this year all of the adults got Kamp shirts, too!

Switching gears a moment, I need to tell you that I was completely floored when I pulled up the website earlier and realized how long it has been since I wrote to y’all. I truly hope to get back into more of a routine because I value this community we’ve built. I want to be here for you and I want to bring value to your lives. That’s one thing that hasn’t changed throughout our years today, and that’s my desire to help you believe in God if you don’t, and keep believing if you do. Towards that end, I want to share the coolest thing with you that I shared with my grands. If you’ve never heard of the Crimson Worm, you’re in for a treat! You can find that piece here.

Hugs, Shellie
