The Blessed Seal of Approval
Last week we chatted about some of the unusual things I’ve discovered about aging. (Side note: it’s been suggested that I use the phrasing “as I mature”, but I’m not sure they’re one and the same. So there’s that.)
But, back to my discoveries. Some of my findings are probably universal but I suspect that not all of them are, like my increasing tendency to let things slide in the housekeeping department. I was raised by Charlotte Ann Rushing so I’m still fond of a neat house and I live by the rule that if one “picks up it doesn’t pile up”, but the deep cleaning is suffering around here.
I recently used my sock foot to clean up a little slosh of coffee. I doubt my mother, The Queen of Us All has ever done such a thing. She may have a few years on me, but the Queen’s house is always cleaner than mine on my best day.
I’m just saying, I don’t expect to win the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval any time soon. And you know? I’m okay with that.
The truth is, I bear an infinitely better seal, as does every other person who has been made new in Christ Jesus. Everyone who has lost their lives to find them in Jesus have been sealed with the Holy Spirit. Today, I’d like to celebrate with you just one of the many blessings included in that promise, and that’s our acceptance at God’s throne. It’s an immeasurably sweet truth that can encourage your prayer life if you embrace it. You and I, believer, are as fully accepted and warmly welcomed before God’s throne right now, today, as we will be when the day we stand before Him in heaven in our glorified bodies and sanctified souls. Oh, hallelujah! Pour the coffee and let’s pray together.
“Father God, I thank you that our standing is in Christ Jesus, your Son. Help us be ever mindful that your Holy Spirit has forever sealed us as your blood bought kids. It’s in the name of your Son and our Savior that we pray, Amen!”
