Last Tuesday morning, I left the house super early

Last Tuesday morning, I left the house super early to get to Delhi hospital in Delhi, Louisiana. I’d been asked to speak to a group of people about Don’t try to Pray Like Her and we were gathering before they moved into another hard day of service in a field that holds my respect and gratitude. I’m still off the road until the fall speaking season, but I love saying yes to local opportunities like this one. By the way, my oldest sister Cyndie worked in this hospital years ago. This first picture is those who asked about her, who worked with her, spoke highly of her nursing skills, and shared fond memories about their time together. I loved asking them to stay behind for a photo to share with Cyndie. We all enjoy being remembered, right? But about the mysterious power of ripples…

Meet my new friend Sandra Williams. She’s on the far left in the first pic and the brunette in the middle of the second one. It was Sandra who asked me to speak to her friends and Sandra who bought three dozen copies of Don’t Try to Pray Like Her for them because the book helped her and she felt like she was supposed to pass it along. That’s remarkable, but before that there was another woman named Joan Pugh who led a class that included Sandra through the book. And that’s great, too. But before that, there was a day when Sandra’s niece came by and invited Sandra to join her for an evening out. “Aunt Sandy” didn’t have a lot of info, but she said yes anyway, and that’s how she came to be at the video taping I held for the filming of Don’t try to Pray Like Her, an event Joan attended, too.

Consider the ripples made by their choices.

Hopefully, the prayers lives of thirty-five people will benefit from Sandra’s gift, who benefited from Joan’s teaching, and her niece’s invitation. And who knows what will happen in the lives of Sandra’s co-workers? What ripples might they start, and how far might they go? God only knows. ✨
